Embracing Inclusive Language at TGE

Words Matter: Our Commitment to Change

At TGE, our commitment to inclusivity is more than just a policy—it’s a core value that shapes our culture and interactions. As part of our ongoing efforts to foster a more inclusive environment, we are dedicated to being intentional with the language we use. Language is powerful; it can either bridge gaps or create barriers. Therefore, we are taking steps to ensure that our communication reflects our values of respect, diversity, and inclusion.

We have identified certain words and phrases that do not meet the standards of inclusivity we strive to achieve. These terms will be removed from all TGE documents, and employees are expected to exclude them from their professional vernacular. This initiative is not just about eliminating specific words but about fostering a mindset of inclusivity and respect in all our communications.

To support our team in this transition, we have compiled a list of tips to help our staff become more inclusive in their language use. The document is not exhaustive; it represents the most common language and situations TGE employees may encounter. We encourage everyone to continue their personal education on inclusive language. Understanding the experiences and backgrounds of others can help us recognize and eliminate exclusive language and practices.

At TGE, inclusivity is a shared responsibility. By being mindful of the language we use, we can create a more welcoming and respectful environment for everyone.

By embracing inclusive language, we not only align with our core values but also set a standard for others to follow. Let’s lead by example and make a positive impact through our words and actions.
